World distribution: The species occurs in south and central Scandinavia, central Europe, and North America (South Dakota, Wyoming)
Ecology: It is lignicolous, occurring mainly on conifer wood. In Scandinavia the species occurs mainly on wooden fences and buildings in the agricultural landscape, especially on north- to east-facing walls of old log houses. It is also known from dry, standing pine trunks in open forest, which appears to be more characteristic for the species in central Europe.
Threats: Wooden fences and log houses are becoming increasingly rare in the agricultural landscape
Status: Five localities are known
