Norwegian distribution: The species is restricted to areas with calcareous rock in southeastern Norway
- Counties:: Ak-Bu. - Vegetation regions: Boreonemoral to low alpine. - Altitude: About sea-level to 1200 m
World distribution: The species is known from Norway and western North America (Alberta, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah)
Ecology: It grows on horizontal to steep faces of calciferous rock, often limestone, but also schists. The sites are exposed, and south- to west-facing. The most luxuriant sites are maritime rocks, but the species also occurs in inland habitats, mainly in the agricultural landscapes, as well as in low alpine screes
Threats: There are probably few threats except land development (limestone quarries, road construction, etc.)
Status: The Norwegian population is small, c. 30 localities are known. There is no indication of any increase or decrease
