Norwegian distribution: The species is known from two localities in continental parts of southeastern Norway - Counties:: Op. - Vegetation regions: Northern boreal to low alpine. - Altitude: 990 - 1270 m

World distribution: Toninia taurica is not rare in central and southern Europe, and also occurs in northern Europe (Norway only), northern Africa, and Asia (Turkey, Uzbekistan, Yenisey-area, Yakutia)

Ecology: In Norway, the species grows in more or less soil-filled fissures in calciferous schist. The sites are southeast- to southwest-facing rock walls or rock outcrops

Threats: No threats identified

Status: The species is rare in the two known localities, but has been collected over a distance of 1-2 km at both sites

Notes: The nearest localities outside Norway are in southern Germany and southern Czechia.
