Blum, OB/ Gizbulina, VK 1980: Catalase activity of the lichens as an indication of physiological reaction impact of water content and temperature factors. - Ukrainian Journal of Botany37(6): 49-54. [RLL List # 135 / Rec.# 2038] Keywords: PHYSIOLOGY/ WATER RELATIONS/ TEMPERATURE/ CATALASE/ ENZYMES
Abstract: 6 figures. 1 table. [Study conducted on Cladonia mitis, Hypogymnia physodes, Peltigera canina and P. aphthosa. "Significant species distinctions in the enzyme activity are found. The lichen catalase activity changes are stated to be in direct proportion to the water content in the thallus. The catalase thermal stability determined in the preparation extracts reflects most completely the lichen physiological state under the effect of superoptimal temperatures and may be used for ecological characteristics of the species."
