The genus is known only from central Europe and the subantarctic Marion Island (however, see entry in this bibliography by Gilbert reporting Vorarlbergia renitens from England). Vorarlbergia Grummann is considered a synonym of Epigloea. New: Epigloea biciliata sp. nov., E. filifera sp. nov., E. grummannii sp. nov., E. intermedia sp. nov., E. medioincrassata (Grumm.) comb nov., E. pleiospora sp. nov., E. renitens (Grumm.) comb. nov., E. soleiformis sp. nov., and E. tortuosa sp. nov.]
