"The mostly lichenized family Pyrenulaceae is circumscribed to include Anthracothecium, Eopyrenula, Lithothelium, Plagiocarpa, Pyrenula, Pyrgillocarpon, and Pyrgillus. Anthracothecium is narrowly defined in the sense of its type. The remainder of Anthracothecium and the hitherto recognized genera Melanotheca, Mycopyrenula, Parmentaria, Pleurotheliopsis, and Pyrenastrum are synonymized with Pyrenula." New: Mycomicrothelia decipiens (Mull.
