Abstract: 3 figures. [The effects of long-term and short-term fumigations were studied on Pseudoparmelia caperata and Ramalina menziesii with special reference to the Santa Monica Mountains of southern California. "From results of these laboratory studies, it is inferred that ozone is contributing to the unusually low lichen cover observed in the field. However, the absence of R. menziesii from these mountains appears to be independent of ozone pollution."]
