Abstract: 8 figures. [Four lichens on two types of calcareous rocks were studied. "In the alteration of a rock, the most active lichenic species are those whose thallus adheres best to the substrate, but all species have an intense effect in destroying the primary minerals (calcite and dololmite) of the rocks." The authors also conclude that "... in the present case, the oxalic acid is the substance present which has the highest activity in the alteration of the rock, and that the secondary products formed by its action depend on the cations present and the state of hydration of the rock."]
