Abstract: 7 figures. 2 tables. ["It was shown by analyzing CO2 exchange that air-dry thalli of lichens with green algae as phycobionts can be reactivated to attain net photosynthesis by supply with humid air alone or with liquid water, while dry thalli from lichens with cyanobacteria need liquid water. This is true in the latter group for gelatinous, homoiomerous species as well as for the non-gelatinous, heteromerous. These different reactivation types are also found in species of one genus, if they contain green or blue green phycobionts."]
