Abstract: 31 fig. 6 maps [Seven species of Lichinella are recognized from southeastern Spain and north Africa. Detailed descriptions, comments on distribution and habitat, photographs and distribution maps are provided, as well as a key for the identification of the species. The genus Gonohymenia is considered to be a synonym of Lichinella. New: Lichinella algerica (Steiner) comb. nov., L. cribellifera (Nyl.) comb. nov., L. iodopulchra (Crozals) comb. nov., L. nigritella (Lett.) comb. nov., L. sinaica (Galun & Marton) comb. nov., L. hondoana (Zahlbr.) comb. nov., L. inflata (Henssen) comb. nov., L. mauritanica (Lange) comb. nov., L. polyspora (Magnusson) comb. nov.]
