Miadlikowska, J/ Lutzoni, F 2000: Phylogenetic revision of the genus Peltigera (lichen-forming Ascomycota) based on morphological, chemical, and large subunit nuclear ribosomal DNA data. - International Journal of Plant Science 161(6): 925-958. [RLL List # 183 / Rec.# 21929]
Keywords: CHEMISTRY/ GENERIC CONCEPTS/ HYDROTHYRIA/ INFRAGENERIC/ LSU NUCLEAR RIBOSOMAL DNA/ MORPHOLOGY/ PELTIGERA/ PHYLOGENY/ RIBOSOMAL DNA/ SYSTEMATICS/ TERPENOIDS
Abstract: 11 fig. 5 tab. ["Morphological, chemical, and molecular analyses were carried out independently and on a combined data set. Monophyly of Peltigera, including Hydrothyria, was confirmed. The genus Hydrothyria is transferred to Peltigera and a new combination Peltigera hydrothyria Miadlikowska & Lutzoni is proposed. Eight monophyletic sections within the genus Peltigera, with high bootstrap support, are circumscribed: sections Peltigera, Polydactylon Miadlikowka & Lutzoni, Chloropeltigera Gyeln., Peltidea (Ach.) Vain., Horizontales Miadlikowska & Lutzoni, Retifoveatae Miadlikowska & Lutzoni, Phlebia Wallr., and Hydrothyriae Miadlikowska & Lutzoni." New: Peltigera sect. Polydactylon sect. nov., sect. Horizontales sect. nov., sect. Retifoveatae sect. nov., sect. Hydrothyriae sect. nov., Peltigera hydrothyria nom. nov. (for Hydrothyria venosa Russ.). A key to the recognized sections of Peltigera is provided.]
