Elatine orthosperma: new to Voss, Western Norway, and comments to its ecology and management potentials.

Elatine orthosperma has been found on sediments on the shores of the Vangsvatn Lake at Voss. This is the second reported site for this species in Western Norway. It is assumed that is new occurrence here is a result of the resent permanent drop of the water level. On the exposed shore-lines, new sites have been available for the plant, and cultural influences may also be favourable for the plant there. It is assumed that the plant has been brought to this site by waterfowl. Its ecology and conservation status is discussed, and possible management actions necessary for its maintenance are proposed.
