Abstract

Nordal, Inger & Marcussen, Thomas 2005. Kalkfiol Viola rupestris ssp. relicta er bisentrisk i Skandinavia – ny forekomst på Møre. Blyttia 63:67-71.
Viola rupestris ssp. relicta is bicentric in Scandinavia – new finding in Møre, W. Norway.

Viola rupestris F.W.Schmidt ssp. relicta Jalas, formerly believed to be «northern unicentric» in Scandinavia, has been discovered in Fræna, Møre og Romsdal County. Comparative isoenzyme analyses were undertaken, and plants from this population show full agreement with N Scandinavian plants, and differ in three isoenzymes from the more southern ssp. rupestris. Bicentricity has in classical Scandinavian plant geography been interpreted as independent glacial survival in northern and southern in situ refugia. The ecological demands of the plants make this interpretation improbable. Postglacial immigration from refugia further south appears more likely. The Møre population links to English populations by sharing two out of three unique relicta bands and further to southern France by sharing one out of three bands. A high degree of hybridization with Viola riviniana in the area is proved – also by isoenzyme evidence.
